What do we do at GPA?
It’s all in the tagline.

"Providing excellent piano, guitar, voice, and acting instruction in the heart of Grapevine, TX"

We have 7 teachers teaching lessons every day. Lessons are 30 minutes one day a week. You practice what you learn, then come back for another lesson!  It’s that easy. We are conveniently located on Franklin Street, right off of Main.

Grapevine Performing Arts wants you to grow as a musician and a performer. All of our teachers are highly trained and experienced. They know what it takes to learn an instrument and have many years of performance experience. They all know how to take the stage.

Our teachers will not only teach you the instrument, they will teach how to practice. Believe it or not, most people don’t fail in the lesson when learning new concepts, they fail in the practicing. You have heard, “Practice makes perfect.” That is actually incorrect. PERFECT practice makes perfect. Our teachers are seasoned and understand this important principle. As a result of our proven practice methodology, students see great results and become very good players.

Our Methodology

We teach our students to read music and we also teach our students how to play by ear. If you are more interested in learning chord theory and playing that way, we can teach you. If you want to play that beautiful Piano Sonata by Beethoven, we can help you do that as well! Perhaps you're wanting to learn how to sing and play guitar at the same time- it's harder than it looks! Are you ready to dig into scales, modes, and all things theory so you can learn to freely solo on guitar? We can teach you. Our instructors are well versed in a variety of teaching methods and can accommodate most learners.

We have two recitals a year for students and those are optional, but encouraged. This is where we put our practice into performance. Recital is our chance to share our talents and what we have learned over the course of a semester. Recitals are actually an important part of our methodology because performing publicly is also a skill that has to be learned.

You should know that GPA studios do not participate in competitions like Guild. If you are looking for high level classical performance training, this studio is not for you.

If you are interested in playing, singing, acting and learning your craft so you can play in a local band, sit around a campfire with your guitar, play a variety of music on the piano or perform at the local theater, we are the place for you to learn!

You may ask, what makes Grapevine Performing Arts different from other music lessons businesses?

GPA teachers don’t just teach you piano, guitar, voice or acting, but they also encourage you to share that gift with others. The motto of GPA studios is “Music and Arts is a gift that is meant to be enjoyed and shared.” Sharing music is just as important as playing it for oneself. Music and the arts bring people together, give joy, strengthens bonds, and make our hearts lighter. When people have the courage to learn AND share their talent, that is when the arts come alive! We enjoy helping all of our students experience the power in that. The world needs the gift of music in their homes and communities and that is what we are striving to provide every day at GPA!

Our Team
at Grapevine Performing Arts

  • Amy Nobles Lyday is Christian Artist. She has released two studio albums, To the Ends of the Earth and On that Day. (Both are available on all digital platforms.) Amy has a lifelong passion of playing piano, guitar, singing and writing music.

Her venue of performance over the years has been the church. She has traveled worldwide leading worship for churches and conferences.

Though Amy’s venue of performance has been the church context, she loves many genres of music and appreciates anyone who learns their craft well enough to perform it. This is what has driven her to provide lessons.

“Looking back on my own musical journey, I am most grateful for my teachers. They not only taught me how to play, they encouraged me to perform."

One teacher in particular drove home what I wanted to do. She could sit at the piano and play Beethoven and Rachmaninoff but then she would pull out the hymnal and start improvising beautifully while singing. She was my model of what it meant to be a great performer. She was well versed in everything from classical, to country, to gospel. She had it all and I loved every moment with her. I wanted to be just like her.

What I learned from that experience is that every student needs a mentor. That is my goal with GPA. I have hired teachers that love music, love performing, and love teaching. Every one of the teachers of GPA is a great role model and someone that every student should try to emulate.”

Amy resides in Grapevine, TX with her husband Jim Lyday and her two stepchildren, Naomi and David Lyday. When she isn’t teaching and running GPA, she enjoys playing golf with her husband, watching her daughter play Basketball for Grapevine High School, watching her son play Football for Grapevine High School, grabbing lunch with friends, working out at ProCore Fitness, reading great stories, and attending Church at the Cross.

Amy welcomes your feedback and would love to hear from you!
