Welcome to Masterclass
Our GPA Masterclass Series is designed to give students extra exposure to our incredible teachers for a class focused on a certain subject or skill set. These classes are open to anyone at GPA. Please see the descriptions though to make sure your student would benefit.
Classes can be taken by anyone who is interested. You do not have to be an ongoing student of GPA. For example – if you are a budding songwriter, but don’t take lessons at GPA but want to take the course, please sign up. If you are a pianist and want a critique of your playing skills, sign up for Mrs. Amy to evaluate you!

Jacob Furr

Are you interested in learning from a professional songwriter what it takes to write a good song? Come spend an hour with Jacob learning about the art of songwriting! This class is for the student who has attempted to write some songs or has interest in listening to an hour of instruction on the art of songwriting. Most likely, it would be a student in Middle School or higher that would like this class.
Dates: Wednesday June 17, 1:30-2:30pm, July 8, 1:30-2:30pm

Amy Lyday

Mrs. Amy has been teaching piano for 15 years. She has taught hundreds of children piano, graduated 8 Seniors from her studio and has valuable teaching experience at every level of student. Her years of teaching experience and the success of her students has made her an incredible help to any student who is willing to listen to her. This master class will give you as a piano student the opportunity to play 2 – 3 repertoire pieces for her. She will give valuable feedback regarding your musicianship, strength, and where you shine and where you can grow. This class is limited to 3 people at a time. Every student will play for the students there in the room and then each student will get to hear the feedback. This will give all players the chance to learn valuable piano expertise and experience from Mrs. Amy and give performers yet another chance to present themselves to an audience. This is an invaluable experience! This is well worth your time if you want to be a better pianist.

Mrs. Amy will be teaching students the key elements of playing by ear. Mrs. Amy has a big background in playing music at church. If you are a student that is playing on the worship team at Church, this class is for you. Do you wonder why chords have numbers? Do you want to learn the art of making a song sound beautiful without a written score? Mrs. Amy will explain the Nashville number system which will help you unlock what to play when all you have is a chord chart to guide you.

Savana Freeman

Are you interested in learning from a professional vocalist and pedagogue how to sing effectively, care for your voice, and develop your abilities? This lecture-style class is designed for students who are serious about improving vocal health and building strength and technique. There will be time for questions and discussion throughout. While Mrs. Savana keeps her classes engaging and enjoyable, this course is best suited for older students, middle school and above.
Dates: June 26, 11am-12pm - July 17, 11am-12pm

Kasi Bailey

Kasi grew up LOVING the piano. She wants to inspire our students to love it too! This class will focus help the student that may not have much desire to practice or keep going. She will explain the patterns involved with learning music and engage the students with creative games and songs to help the student relate to those patterns. She will give basic music appreciation lessons, exposing students to new genres of music and giving simple song examples that students could learn. This class is meant for ages – 8-18. This is meant to inspire the student to grow to love and work toward their music goals.
